Services

For information,

Having worked in many diverse areas of IT for 20 years I am well positioned to be able to deliver a wide portfolio of standard and custom training services to domestic and business users alike.

I have used the Internet for over eight years both professionally and as a home resource.  It is growing at a rate that nobody could have foreseen, and just keeping up with pitfalls, problems new developments and new productivity tools is a daunting task.

Through research, experimentation, study and personal networking I have established a series of Best Practices, to avoid the problems and to benefit from the almost limitless potential of the greatest technological resource of our time.

If you are using some new software, make a card listing all the different options available from the menu bar.  It will quickly save you time until you become more familiar.  Either on paper or with a Word Processing program make lists of all the options available for each of the pull-down menus at the top of the screen.  Keep it by your side as you learn the new application.  You will find it much quicker to glance at it when needed than to randomly try the many menus on the screen.

Whether it is for business, education, leisure or just keeping in touch with friends and family around the world, there is much that I can teach you.

The pages here give you an insight into the services I provide which have proved the most in demand.  I can deliver these tutorials at different levels, whether I am teaching a child just embarking on first computer adventures, an adult who uses IT extensively at work, or to more mature computer users who have grown up without the early grounding that is now common place.

My deep background, not just in IT, but in many aspects of modern life, means that I can apply my experience to a very wide range of activities which can ensure that you benefit from my consultancy skills.

Before giving you training I will ensure that I understand your existing ability, and also discuss with you what you are seeking to achieve.  The training will focus on YOUR PARTICULAR NEEDS, and be at a speed that you specify.

For information,

If there is something that you do infrequently (printing Christmas card address labels?) , write down the instructions, to make it easier next time.  It is so easy sometimes to do something, then, a week later, be unable to remember exactly how you did it.  Start a collection of computer notes to yourself, describing what you want to do, and the sequence of steps that you follow to achieve your goal.

If you find yourself frequently doing the same task on a computer, it is very likely that there is a way to reduce the repetition.  Do yourself a BIG FAVOUR and look into automating it!!!  I do that all the time, and it is how I make BIG PRODUCTIVITY INCREASES, by stepping back and reassessing the way I do things.
